ATTD Journal Club – April Session

Welcome to the inaugural journal club session hosted by the ATTD community! We are delighted to announce this exciting event was made possible thanks to the support of Novo Nordisk A/S and the collaboration with the Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics (DTT) journal.

About the session

Our first session promises to be an engaging and informative discussion, moderated by none other than Assoc. Prof. Nouran Yousef Salah, a distinguished member of our community, not only holds the prestigious ATTD Breakthrough Outcomes Award but also serves as an esteemed member of our Early Career Education Committee.

During this inaugural session, we have the privilege of featuring Dr. Subbulaxmi Trikudanathan, who will present her groundbreaking article titled “The Role of a ‘Technology Navigator’ in an Academic Diabetes Clinic: A Feasibility Evaluation.” Dr. Trikudanathan’s research delves into the crucial role of technology in diabetes management within an academic setting, offering invaluable insights that will spark thought-provoking discussions.

Nouran Salah

Nouran Yousef, Associate Professor·Ain Shams University

Nouran Yousef is an associate professor of Pediatric Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at Ain Shams University. She has 36 international publications in the field of Pediatric Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism, which have been published in highly indexed journals. Additionally, she has reviewed over 100 manuscripts related to diabetes and obesity for international journals. Her primary research focus revolves around the application of technology for early detection of glycemic derangements and exploring management modalities for them. Within her practice at PADU, Nouran Yousef oversees approximately 1000 children and adolescents with diabetes. She operates an insulin pump and advanced technology clinic, where she manages over 150 children on insulin pumps and another 100 on Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems (CGMS) with basal bolus regimens.

Subbulaxmi

Subbulaxmi Trikudanathan, Clinical Associate Professor Medical Director of UW Medicine Diabetes Institute·University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, USA

Subbulaxmi Trikudanathan, MD, MRCP, MMSc, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington (Seattle,USA) and the Medical Director of the UW Diabetes Institute. She obtained her medical degree from Madras Medical College in India and Master of Medical Sciences (MMSc) from Harvard Medical School. She completed multiple residencies and fellowships in both the USA and the UK, including a final endocrinology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She is actively involved in clinical research with a focus on diabetes, PCOS, NAFLD, cardiometabolic outcomes and conducts several phase 3 drug and device trials in diabetes.
