Dr. Banshi Saboo
MD, PhD, Chief Diabetologist & Chairman, Dia Care, Diabetes Care and Hormone Clinic

Dr. Banshi Saboo is a distinguished healthcare leader with a relentless commitment to advancing diabetes care and endocrinology. With a proven track record of leadership and innovation, he has spearheaded impactful initiatives that have garnered recognition both nationally and internationally. Notably, he launched the groundbreaking “Diabetes-Free India: 2030” project, acknowledged by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. As the Founder of NGO Diabetes Care India and the Indian Sweet Registry Project, he continues to drive transformative change in diabetes management and awareness.

Dr. John B. Buse
MD, PhD, Director, UNC Diabetes Care Center

Dr. Buse’s practice combines clinical care, research and education. He has received international recognition for innovative clinical care and efforts at prevention of type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and their complications. He practices patient-centered care focusing on developing treatment programs in collaboration with patients that meet their needs and expectations. He works with teams of investigators in diabetes clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research and translation of basic science research towards clinical application. Current projects focus in novel treatments including development of glucose-responsive insulin, cardiovascular safety and efficacy of diabetes drugs and developing the evidence-base for treatment guidelines of the future in diabetes care.

Casey Wells, PharmD
BCACP, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC)

Casey Wells’ passion for helping to manage diabetes for vulnerable patient populations began with foundational experiences at a small-town community pharmacy and an Internal Medicine Clinic. She completed two years of pharmacy residency at MAHEC focused on caring for rural and underserved patients in Western North Carolina. Currently, Casey works in the MAHEC Internal Medicine and Endocrinology clinic with a primary focus on diabetes and technology. She is an active member in MAHEC’s diabetes clinical trial team and provides diabetes education to pharmacy and medical residents in Western North Carolina.
