Did you know that many primary care physicians are likely to meet patients with undiagnosed MASLD long before any symptoms develop?
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is now recognised as a key part of the cardiometabolic continuum, closely linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. As obesity and diabetes continue to rise worldwide, primary care physicians are increasingly likely to see patients with undiagnosed MASLD long before any liver-related symptoms appear.
Yet MASLD often goes unrecognised in primary care. Many clinicians report uncertainty about who to assess, how to evaluate fibrosis risk, when to refer and how to coordinate care with other specialties. At the same time, new evidence is emerging and the treatment landscape is changing, which makes early identification more important than ever.
In this live webinar, an international faculty will share practical guidance on identifying, assessing and managing MASLD within the broader context of cardiometabolic disease. The session reflects educational priorities set by the CaReMeLO Scientific Committee and learner feedback, and it focuses on what you can apply in routine practice, from non-invasive fibrosis assessment to multidisciplinary management.
- 01Recognise MASLD as part of the cardiometabolic continuum and understand its relationship with obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease.
- 02Identify patients at increased risk of progressive liver disease in routine primary care practice.
- 03Apply practical approaches to diagnosing and assessing MASLD, including non-invasive fibrosis assessment tools.
- 04Determine when specialist referral and multidisciplinary management are appropriate.
- 05Incorporate evidence-based strategies for managing patients with MASLD and overlapping cardiometabolic conditions.
