Speakers

Vlado Perkovic, PhD
He is Provost at UNSW Sydney and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health. A nephrologist and clinical researcher, he leads major international trials focused on preventing kidney disease progression and its complications. He has contributed to Australian and global guidelines on kidney disease, cardiovascular risk, and blood pressure management. Vlado holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and the American Society of Nephrology.

Rudolf de Boer, MD, PhD
He is Chair and Professor of Cardiology at Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. His research and clinical expertise focus on heart failure, cardiogenetics, cardio-oncology, obesity, diabetes, HFpEF, and biomarkers. He has published over 700 articles and 10 book chapters and has held leadership roles in the Dutch Society of Cardiology, the Heart Failure Association, and the European Journal of Heart Failure; he is currently an associate editor of the European Heart Journal (Heart Failure section).
Moderator

Avraham Karasik, MD, PhD
He is Professor Emeritus of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Tel Aviv University and former head of the Endocrine Institute at Sheba Medical Center. He currently leads research at the Maccabi Institute of Innovation, focusing on large population studies and the CaReMe-obesity complex, and serves as Chief Diabetes and Endocrinology Advisor to Maccabi Health Services. His work spans insulin signaling, obesity-induced insulin resistance, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Prof. Karasik trained at the Hebrew University, Harvard Medical School, and Joslin Diabetes Center, has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles, and held leadership roles in the Israel Endocrine Society and Israeli Diabetes Association.
