Faculty

Julia Mader, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetology at Medical University of Graz and Deputy Head of the Diabetes Outpatient Clinic. She graduated at Medical University of Graz where she also trained in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. 

Katharine Barnard-Kelly, PhD, Chartered Health Psychologist, specializes in human factors assessment and the psychosocial impact of disease. She has a longstanding research interest in human factors, patient engagement and quality of life assessment.

Partha Kar, PhD, National Specialty Advisor, Diabetes with NHS England and co-author of the national Diabetes GIRFT report. He has been a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust since 2008- and pioneer of the Super Six Diabetes Model which is recognised as one of the good examples of integrated care.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Critically assess the various strategies and interventions for early prevention of T2D considering their effectiveness, feasibility, and potential impact on at-risk populations.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of digital tools in the early prevention and management of diabetes, considering key metrics, patient outcomes, and the impact on healthcare systems.
  3. Apply insights from community-based initiatives and case studies to design and implement effective programs for early prevention and management in their communities.
